Mariana Sesma is a Brazilian independent curator and cultural manager based in Munich. Her curatorial work focuses on belonging, playfulness, care, and decolonial art practices. She has curated exhibitions such as The Essentials, a photo exhibition in Munich’s subway stations, and solo shows We Were on the Same Branch by Betül Aydin and The Voice of the Daughter by Rusha. Group exhibitions include BeLonging (Platform, Munich) and Crossed References: Marginality and Resistance (Brazil). In 2024, she curated Pelagial by Nina Radelfahr and Mariella Kerscher, and more recently, she curated Hair Salon: Conversations in Color, Texture and Identity at the Habibi Kiosk of the Münchner Kammerspiele.
Sesma holds a degree in Visual Arts and an MBA in Cultural Management. She has held various roles in major Brazilian art institutions, including the São Paulo Biennial. In addition to curating, she leads workshops for artists on artist statements, portfolio reviews, and residencies. Mariana Sesma is currently in residence at Fonden FABRIKKEN for Kunst og Design.
